According to RussianiPhone.ru, the iPhone 2.2.1 beta firmware apparently contains support for both push notifications as well as over-the-air MobileMe syncing with Notes support.
For those of you who don't know what is push notifications, push notifications allow you to receive notifications pertaining to a specific application (e.g. instant messanging) on your mobile device without actually having the entire application running in the background, in the other hand saving battery power and improving performance.
iPhone-users were originally supposed to receive push notifications back in September, but according to an email sent by Steve Jobs, ”We’re running a bit late. We want to get it 100% right the first time.”
So lets hope this rumour is true and we will be able to see Push Notification in the next update.
Update i found a video which will explain on push notifications in more detail.

Speck ToughSkin for iPhone 3G

This case is designed to provide the ultimate protection for the iPhone 3G. The case in my opinion is somewhere between the protection offered by The Otterbox Defender and the PixelSkin.

The ToughSkin does a really good job of protecting the iPhone from drops, but if you compare this to the Otterbox Defender the defender obviously give better protection. Similar to the Otterbox all the buttons, such as sleep/wake, silent are accessible through the case. Also there is a special feature on this case, the bottom part of the case folds away allowing you to dock the iPhone with out removing the case.
In all this case provides good protection to your phone for a affordable price of $17.47.

Enable Emoji Icons Outside of Japan

As you should know that japanese iPhone customers got 1 more function that the rest of the world does not have, the Emoji Icons. You can see from an Apple discussion thread, customers outside of Japan are pretty confused as to why Apple would leave the Emoji icons out of the update for everyone else.
Anyway a 19 year old software developer Steven Troughton-Smith explains how to enable Emoji icons on a iPhone set outside Japan.
You need to edit the file /User/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Preferences.plist on the device -> whether you use a jailbreak to achieve this or merely some iTunes backup editor is up to you.
Add the following boolean key as ‘true’: KeyboardEmojiEverywhere
Then merely go to the Keyboards section of the Settings app, hit Japanese, and turn on Emoji. Will work for any text field/view in the OS, including on websites, AND including the titles of items on SpringBoard (e.g. if you save a bookmark to the home screen).

2nd Generation iPod Touch Faster than iPhone
Reported by touchArcade.com
Handheld Games Corp’s CEO Thomas Fessler has reported to that performance of their 3D TouchSports Tennis game is noticeably different across different models of the Apple hand-held devices. In the video below it shows the the 2nd gen iPod Touch loads the game much faster than the rest.
The reason for the difference is that fact that the 2nd gen iPod Touch’s processor was boosted to 532MHz (up from 412MHz). Meanwhile, the iPhone 3G, Original iPhone and 1st Generation iPod Touch continue to run at the original 412MHz.

iPod Touch Hack Firmware 2.2 Google Street View

As you know the iPod Touch did not get the Google Street View as in the iPhone Firmware 2.2 update. But i have some good news iPod Touch Fans member timmyj9 played around with the Firmware and found a hack to enable the feature.
1. get this file via ssh: /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/N45AP.plist
2. convert to xml at http://iappcat.com/plist/bin2xml
3. add
underneath
4. save then using that website again reconvert to binary
5. rename original file N45AP.old
6. copy new N45AP.plist in (make sure permissions are 644)
7. reboot ipod
all new Maps features work however you get a searching for service (replaces the word ipod in the top left) and waiting for activation message that pops up occassionally, music settings disappear also music slot in prefs disappears (hjrry)
Hopefully someone can patch the frameworks or springboard which wouldnt require this to be done! Anyway if you're desperate to try it out, thats all that needs to be done theres nothing wrong with stability or anything so you're not going break anything permanately trying this out.
enjoy

New Google Mobile App for the iPhone delayed
Google’s voice recognition search application for the iPhone, originally set for launch on Friday, will likely go up sometime Monday, as reported by Tech Crunch. Even Google is not allowed in to the App store because of Apple's completely ridiculous app approval process. Google has done Apple a favour by releasing the app on the iPhone and not on the Google Android platform but they are not taking it. But in this case Apple really screwed up.
iPhone Firmware 2.2 to be out soon

According to the New York Times, the application may be available as soon as today. You can place the phone to their ear and ask virtually any question, like “Where’s the nearest Starbucks?” or “How tall is Mount Everest?” The sound is converted to a digital file and sent to Google’s servers, which try to determine the words spoken and pass them along to the Google search engine.
The search results, which may be displayed in just seconds on a fast wireless network, will at times include local information, taking advantage of iPhone features that let it determine its location.
